Zoological Name: Heterotis niloticus
The Kanga is a long, fleshy fish that is well known in the Sahelo-Sudanian zone of Cameroon and in the Nyong region. It is now widely farmed and provides a good alternative in the fight against the high cost of living. Traditionally, this fish was eaten as a broth or ndomba in traditional recipes. In recent years, it has found its way into fish shops as a fish in its own right, which can be cooked in all the ways you would cook standard fish.
