Scientific name: Oryza flour
Rice flour is a gluten-free flour obtained by fine grinding of dry rice grains. Rice flour makes it possible to consume rice in another form, and for other uses. Rice is a cereal grown in tropical and subtropical regions, in humid, sunny areas, for its seeds. It is the world's leading cereal crop for food consumption, and second only to corn in terms of tonnage. It's a gluten-free flour, and an ideal substitute for wheat as it's very fine, light and has a neutral aroma.
Nutritionally, as a cereal, it is rich in carbohydrates, fiber, B vitamins and minerals, making it an energy-giving food.
Rice flour is mainly used for human consumption as a replacement for wheat flour, and is generally used mixed with other gluten-free flours or wheat, depending on the desired characteristics.
